Biotube Effluent Filters
Every septic tank needs an effluent filter to keep solid particles
from spilling into the drainfield. Solids in the drainfield cause
clogging and excessive biomat growth.
Effluent filters are not all alike. Orenco's Biotube effluent filters have 5-10 times more flow area
than others, so they don’t need to be cleaned as often. This
reduces maintenance time and cost. Cleaning is a simple matter of hosing off the filter whenever the tank is pumped.
FT-Series
Residential Biotube effluent filters can be used in new or
existing tanks, for both residential and commercial applications.
Biotube filters are also part of our pump vaults and our EasyPak Pump
Package. Our filters have a lifetime warranty.
How They WorkEffluent
from the relatively clear zone of the septic tank, between the
scum and sludge layers, enters the Biotube effluent filter through
inlet holes in the housing. Larger particles are retained in the
filter's interior
space, where organic materials further decompose.
Optional flow modulating orifices at the outlet of the filter slow the
flow through the tank, allowing maximum settling of solids.
Each
filter comes with a Biotube filter cartridge (in 4-, 8-, 12-, and
15-in. diameters), a PVC housing, and an extendable PVC handle for easy
removal. A shortened version of our standard 8- and 12-in. diameter
filters, called a "base inlet filter," is available for low-profile
tanks.
OptionsAn optional alarm is available to signal
a high-level condition in the tank, which may indicate a need to clean
the filter. An optional slide rail system, available on larger filters,
simplifies installation and provides access for servicing. Slide rails
are required when there is only one access to the tank.
